Your camera as a mirror

Participatory photography is not about technique. It is a creative and collective methodology that combines photography and storytelling, helping participants reflect and become aware of themselves and the world around them. People photograph a theme and then discuss it in a group — your camera becomes a mirror.

The camera is an instrument that teaches people how to see — and observation is where every story begins.

Your camera as a mirror

How it works at Maré

01

EXPLORE & PHOTOGRAPH

Every day, explore and photograph at your own pace. No rules, no right or wrong. Only your eye and the light.

02

CHOOSE & REFLECT

From everything you photographed, choose a few images. The ones that speak to you most — even if you don't yet know why. That choice is already part of the story.

03

SHARE & BUILD

In the story circle, images become words and generate awareness. Day by day, image by image, your personal storytelling takes shape.

Why does it work?

NO EXPERIENCE NEEDED

This is not a photography course. You don't need to know how to use a camera. You only need to observe.

THE IMAGE AS LANGUAGE

Sometimes a photograph says what words cannot. The camera gives you permission to express what you carry inside, without having to explain it first.

COLLECTIVE DEPTH

When others look at your image, they see things you hadn't noticed. The group becomes a mirror. And you understand more about you and discover that what you thought was personal, is also universal.

A STORY YOU OWN

At the end of Maré, your images become an 8-page personal photobook. Not a souvenir — a document of who you were before, and who you are now.
